Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, my mentoring sessions are tailored to your needs. Here are some of the key areas we can cover:

• Getting to Know Your Camera

  Understanding your camera’s settings, buttons, and menus. Learn how to move away from Auto and take full control of your images by embracing manual mode.

• The Exposure Triangle (Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO)

  Discover how these three settings work together to create a properly exposed image. You’ll learn how to adjust them for different lighting conditions and creative effects, such as blurred backgrounds or frozen motion.

• Lighting Techniques

  Understand how to use natural and artificial light to enhance your images. We’ll cover how to shoot in different lighting conditions, use reflectors, and even introduce off-camera flash if you’re interested.

• Posing & Composition

  Learn how to compose visually striking images using techniques like leading lines, the rule of thirds, and framing. If you photograph people, I’ll also teach you how to pose them naturally and make them feel comfortable in front of the camera.

• Focusing & Sharpness

  Learn how to get consistently sharp images by mastering autofocus modes, focus points, and techniques for different types of photography.

• Shooting in Manual Mode

  Gain the confidence to take full creative control of your camera. I’ll break down the steps to shooting in manual mode so it feels simple and intuitive.

• Working with Different Lenses

  Understand how different lenses affect your images and which ones are best for portraits, landscapes, and other types of photography.

• Editing & Post-Processing Basics

  Learn how to enhance your images with simple editing techniques using software like Adobe Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop. I’ll guide you through colour correction, exposure adjustments, and how to give your photos a professional finish.

• Building Your Confidence Behind the Camera

  Photography is not just about technical skills; it’s about creativity and confidence. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and excited every time you pick up your camera!

Beginner's Course (6 Sessions) - £350

In this 6 session course, I will take you through everything you need to know about your camera. We will dive into the exposure triangle, so you can understand the freedom of working in manual mode and begin creating some beautiful art.

• We will also touch on white balance, focusing, metering and shooting in raw. Once that is all taken care of, I will teach you about lenses, lighting and composition. On our final session, we will head out on location to put all you have learnt to good use.
• At the end of the 6 sessions, you will have enough knowledge to go out and shoot beautiful photographs, confidently and creatively!
• The programme will primarily take place in my studio in Ballynahinch, County Down. Some lessons can be done over Zoom if needed.

Single Sessions – £65 per session

Is there something you just can’t get your head around? Stuck on Shutter Speed? Are you thinking Oh No! Not sure how to navigate certain lighting situations? We’ll grab a cuppa and spend an hour or so going over your photography pitfalls.

• Single sessions can be done over Zoom or in person in my Ballynahinch studio , depending on what the issue is.
